The Holi festival is celebrated in a unique way in Ratnagiri. This Shimagotsav is celebrated approximately for eight days all over. On this occasion, Palkhi (A procession) is carried out of local deities from the local temples. You must see the celebration where these Palkhis are made to dance. All the villagers from the surrounding villages come together and celebrate this festival with great zeal and devotion.



On the day of Holi, thousands of villagers bring a big palm tree on the Holi ground by swinging it high in the air. After that, a big pit is dug in the ground and the tree is buried in it and the Holi is lit. A variety of sweets are offered in the Holi as a tradition.



During the eight days of Shimagotsav, the atmosphere in Ratnagiri is fun filled and enchanting. It is as if everyone has the freedom to be naughty and mischievous. Therefore, all the villagers loudly call out each other with funny names and enjoy the Holi festival immensely.
