THE standing splits variation to strengthen glutes and hamstrings in your yoga flow! #standingsplits #yogaterachertraining #yogaforbeginners
Better biomechanics creates stronger yoga results! Scott Anderson helps yoga practitioners and teachers improve the strength and effectiveness of their yoga flow, whether it's vinyasa yoga, power yoga, hot yoga or anything in between. In this video, Scott Anderson explains how to get stronger results when performing standing splits pose (Prasarita Eka Padasana). This video offers great information for yoga teacher trainings too!

Summary: Just like every other asana we perform, we always have the opportunity to do more, tone more, strengthen more. In standing splits pose, by strongly contracting the hamstrings to "squeeze an orange" and LIFT the orange while squeezing, we are creating a powerful synergy of the low back, glutes and hamstrings. By drawing the lifted knee to the midline and pulling the lifted leg's hip down and forward we help to neutralize the hips in relationship to the floor and teach the lifted leg it is responsible for it's own weight. Go even deeper into this variation by firmly pushing the standing foot into the mat as those you were leaving a really good footprint in mud.
