Congress leader Shashi Tharoor launched a scathing attack on the central government for implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) across the state. In his statement, Tharoor said that Citizenship Amendment Act affects India’s foreign relations. He said that this was a completely unnecessary decision by the government and the consequences even for our foreign relations have been terrible. The Japanese PM cancelled his trip. Bangladeshi ministers have cancelled their trips. “The entire country is wondering why we must repeatedly be subject to the whims and fancies of an irresponsible and inept government,” said Tharoor.
