Jamia protests: How students found themselves on the wrong side of Delhi Police

Jamia protests: How students found themselves on the wrong side of Delhi Police It was supposed to be a peaceful protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act by students of Jamia University in Delhi. But the protests turned violent on Sunday evening leading to a direct faceoff between Delhi Police and Jamia students. What caused the peaceful protests to turn violent? Did the cops miss a trick by not roping in the Jamia University security and administration – as claimed by the Jamia authorities? Should they have entered the campus and used force? Or should students have ensured that anti-social elements do not hijack their peaceful protests? AAP and BJP have been locked in a war of words blaming each other for inciting the violence. All eyes will now be on the SC which is likely to hear the matter on Tuesday if the situation returns to normal.
