When we see images of these buttes and hills they remind us very much of what we see in the American SW. Buttes and ridges, and hills, all eroding over time. This process takes millions of years, leaving what we see today. Assuming this process is the same on Mars, only perhaps taking longer because there are fewer of these processes of erosion here. But why is there the same debris on top of these buttes as whats in the middle and through out? How can you have 500-1000 feet of debris only? Thats a big question that I dont think we will ever have the answer to, at least in my lifetime.
