During the Trujillo mandate, the Dominican Republic implemented several reforms, among which the reconstruction of Santo Domingo (A city that had been destroyed by a hurricane), which changed its name to "Ciudad de Trujillo", the creation of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, the establishment of the Dominican peso as the only currency in the country and the attempt to limit immigration from Haiti. Already by the 50s the country was highly industrialized and modernized, in addition to the construction of ports, roads, bridges and other public works.
