A depressive state of mind-brain could be a result of different things. It could be the death of a loved one. It could be low self-esteem. It could be low self-confidence, or it could be several other things; however, one of the main reasons for a depressive state of mind is being stuck. We keep on thinking about why things happened to us in comparison to how we can fix it, which is the right question to ask.
I encountered depression issues after losing everything in 2008/2009. Being an immigrant in this country, I worked very hard and had a lot of achievements; however, when the economic crisis hit, I did not know what to do. I lost everything from my house, car, relationship, money, job, license, and went into depression. It was a tough time. I lived off a storage box in Newyork. I started using substances, thinking that it will solve the issue and It did for the time being but only to make it worse later on. For the longest time, I kept on asking myself, why did this happen to me? What did I do to deserve this? And never been in a position like this before, I did not know where to start. Eventually, I met a team of doctors trying to understand what was wrong with me. It came to my knowledge that I was in a depressive state of mind because of being in Denial. Yes, my friends, I was in a denial mode that this could happen to me, and instead of trying to come up with a way of fixing it, I kept on asking myself that why did this happen to me.
My friends, it is entirely reasonable to be sad. It makes us aware of ourselves being human. However, if you feel stuck, start asking yourself questions as to how to fix the issue instead of why did it happen. You see, in life, there are things that we can control, and there are things that we cannot control. It is better to emphasize the things that we can control and fix it than staying stuck in a situation where we start feeling depressed. The question always is, how to fix it, and not why did it happen to us. Stay strong, my friends. It happens, be resilient.
