Singapore retailers are offering huge discounts to lure in shoppers on Black Friday. Brick-and-mortar stores are competing hard to keep their share of customers in a shrinking market. September data from the Trade and Industry Ministry showed department store sales have fallen 1.2% compared to 2018. This comes as consumer sentiment is dampened by a slowing economy, softening labour market and subdued wage growth.
