The annual Leonid meteor shower is due to peak on the night of Sunday, November 17 and the following morning.

Skywatchers may also be able to see some meteors on the days just before and after the peak, although the moon may obstruct the view.

The Leonid meteor shower happens when Earth passes through a stream of small rocks and debris left behind by Comet Tempel-Tuttle making its way around the Sun every 33.3 years.
