Winter Storm Aubrey made a mess of Interstate, grocery store parking lots, and everything in between on late Wednesday evening. With temperatures in the 70s the day prior, the potent winter punch came as a shock to the system for many Rapid City residents as heavy snow began to pile up overnight. Vehicles could be seen sliding through intersections as ambulances and snow plows fought through the high winds and low visibility. Up to a foot of snow is expected for the season's first snowfall in Rapid City, with more forecast for the northern Black Hills in South Dakota.
