Nicola Roberts made her West End debut in City Of Angels on Thursday night. The singer, 34, cut a casual figure in a cream polo neck and black jacket as she left the Garrick Theatre in London after the preview show. Nicola joins a star-studded cast for the 1940s play, including Sanditon's Theo James and Ugly Betty's Vanessa Williams. Nicola looked worlds away from her racy lace corset costume as she bundled up in the chunky knit, which she teamed with black trousers. The songstress opted for comfort with black patent shoes and a designer handbag. Nicola wore her signature ginger locks in a bouncy blow-dry and was still sporting her full face of stage make-up. The Masked Singer winner appeared delighted with how the preview show went and upon her exit stopped to sign autographs at the stage door.Ahead of her debut, the singer took to Instagram to share a black and white shot of herself in character with Theo. Nicola captioned the snap: '10 minutes till curtain call on our first preview show! Good luck everyone'. Nicola's BFF's Cheryl and Kimberley Walsh were quick to comment on the snap, wishing her luck. Cheryl wrote: 'Good luck. I love you' while Kimberley commented: 'Have the BEST show'. Nicola previously spoke to the Evening Standard about her debut. The songstress will play two characters; actress Avril and film character Mallory in City of Angels. City of Angels finds a crime novelist working on a screenplay adaptation of one of his books while his marriage is crumbling, meanwhile while his hero can't get over the one that got away in a spoof of 1940s Hollywood. She told the publication: 'Kimberley (Walsh) is made for musical theatre, she just has that smile that beams and lights up the stage. 'I’m a bit more of a quiet, more serious girl so I wouldn’t necessarily lend myself to the kind of roles she does, so something like City Of Angels, which is very much a play with music rather than a musical feels more true to me.'
