The Victor Emmanuel II Monument is a national monument built in honour of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy. It occupies a site between the Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Hill in Rome, Italy.
This was built to celebrate the magnificence of Rome, capital of Italy and to commemorate the unification of the country into a single nation, this was built between 1885-1925.
At the top of the steps you will find the “tomb of the unknown soldier “ guarded by two guards 24/7. It is free to get in and has a great view of Rome from the roof.
