Director Statement
The first thing you’ll notice about the animated short, The Realm Beyond Reason, is that it has the look and feel of a black and white underground comic book. Our black humor laced horror film brings a unique comic style to life combining traditional pen and ink art with new animation tools and production techniques.
We set out to bring a true comix illustrator’s highly stylized drawings to life using cutting edge software, as it was being developed. The partnership between artist, animator, and software allows The Realm Beyond Reason set a true comic book art style into motion with animation.
