DIY board racks- how to build an inexpensive but strong surfboard, SUP, or kayak storage rack

We have been busy setting up our new Blue Planet shop location and I thought it's a good time to show how I'm building solid racks using relatively inexpensive lumber, a circular saw, chisel and drill. If you are handy this is a relatively easy project. This rack system can be used as a surfboard wall rack for horizontal storage or to hold boards standing up against a wall or as a free standing board rack that can display boards on two sides as is the case with the one we are building in the center of our shop.
