Internet is in love with the viral video of a Japanese woman, who loves shorshe-ilish, speaking flawless Bangla. The clip is winning hearts over the Internet.

A video of a Japanese girl is going viral on social media right now for the most entertaining reason. The video, which was uploaded by Facebook user Apurba Das, shows Sakura Ishikawa speaking in fluent Bangla and Hindi too. But her favourite language, according to the 7-minute-long clip, is Bangla.

Apurba Das shared the video with the caption, "A Japanese girl who loves Bengali more than many Bongs."

The video begins with the FB user, who was in Japan, saying that he wants to introduce someone really interesting. After which he turns the camera on Sakura, who then goes on to talk about her love for Bangla. She also reveals that she has studied Bangla at Jadavpur University and has read Rabindranath Tagore’s work like the short story Postmaster and seen Satyajit Ray’s films too. She also talked about the dishes from Bengal that she loves, like the famous shorshe-ilish and roshogolla too.

She can be heard saying, "Namaskar, my name is Sakura, I work with TCS Japan. I studied Bangla at Jadavpur University, they have a Bengali department. I used to live in Golpark (Kolkata). I would walk from Golpark to Jadavpur.

"There was a short summer programme, I stayed in Kolkata for two months. I liked reading Bangla, so I decided I would do it long term. I stayed on for another six months, then I went to Delhi to study Hindi. When asked, which language she liked better Hindi or Bangla, she said Bangla has many expressions. Bangla is a rich language. I have read Feluda’s stories (the famous detective created by Satyajit Ray). I have seen a few Bangla films too. I have seen Pather Panchali.

"I love Rabindranath Tagore’s Postmaster. I loved ilish maach, but in Japan, we don’t have any fish preparations with mustard. (Sakura was referring to shorshe-ilish, a hilsa-mustard dish that is signature Bengali cuisine.) I did not like roshogolla the first time I had it, but loved it the second time," said Sakura Ishikawa.

Sakura said that she enjoys learning the nitty-gritty of a language and that’s why she studied both Hindi and Bangla.

After the video was shared on Facebook, it managed to garner around 386k views and 10k shares.
