Let's Talk About Uncomfortable Emotions | Rebeka Smyth | TEDxHiltonHeadWomen "Ladies, let's overrule the stigma. Talking about emotions doesn't make us bitchy."
I was a news anchor and national correspondent for over ten years. Although my career was on the rise, my personal life had plummeted. I had no idea that (100% of) our decision making is based on our emotions. Being the NYC correspondent for Telemundo/NBC, I saw first hand how emotions tear lives apart, including my own. Not willing to sit and watch, I worked on a two-year research project that resulted in teaching people how to control their lives, by controlling their emotions.
Own your thoughts, control your emotions, change your life.
Women need to know they can control the way they feel, and behave. All they need to do is become conscious of their mindset.
Our emotions are ruled by the way we think, period. If we continuously wire our thoughts to the negative, our emotions will be constantly uncomfortable.
Anyone has the power to change that. Rebeka Smyth is a long-time television journalist whom you would never expect to have suffered deep emotional disappointment and codependency issues. With her career on the rise at the US largest broadcasters, she managed to mask her pain for years. Meanwhile, she also encountered countless stories of emotional hardship in her job, so she started her quest of figuring out what makes us happy or miserable. Her conclusion; the way we think rules the way we feel.

After Rebeka learned how to control her emotions, she managed to build her dream life. She wanted to help other women do the same, that's when she wrote her first book: "Emotional Bitch: What we feel is a choice". Rebeka also launched a platform under the same name. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
