We all know how to write a resolution – but can we stick to it? Can we follow through on daily writing so that this becomes the year that we start to see our dreams come to fruition?
In this video, I decide to do ten minutes of writing to a prompt followed by a reading. There are many ways of writing every day: you can do ten minutes, 20 minutes, respond to a prompt, or just write freely with no bounds. However, the important thing is to consistently write every day.
Maybe this has been a resolution in the past. Maybe you told yourself you’d establish a daily writing routine and it just never happened. In that case, this is the perfect time to renew that resolution in the new year. You know how to write a resolution for yourself but the difficult part happens each day. You might wake up and have other things to do, or you might just not feel like it.
These are obstacles that all writers must overcome. In order to create growth as a writer, you have to be able to stick to the goals that you set out for yourself.
That’s why this new year presents such a rich opportunity for writers. Make this YOUR year for writing. Take control of your future by creating a daily writing habit. Learning how to write a resolution is only the first part. The challenge – and the part that will help you grow – is dedicating yourself to that resolution so that you finally begin to achieve your writing dreams.
