In his C Minor variations (not the Diabelli!), Beethoven composed not less than 32 variations on a theme based upon a kind of chaconne harmonic structure. Starting from C Minor, chromatically going down to the dominant and then back. As it should not surprise us, Beethoven takes the listener through all corners of his musical world, from very 'open' structured variations till most complex jungles of notes. But how should one bring 'unity' across these 32 variations? If that's something you wonder about, then this video is for you. --
