South Korea's ambassador to the UN Cho Hyun has stressed the need for continued dialogue with North Korea.
Speaking at the UN Security Council session on North Korea on Wednesday,...Cho said it's most important to keep the dialogue momentum going between the two Koreas as well as between North Korea and the U.S.
"We strongly urge the DPRK to fufill its obligations under the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and remain meaningfully engaged in dialogue with the United States and the Republic of Korea."
The envoy added that South Korea is also concerned about North Korea's latest missile tests... but that meaningful support, like humanitarian aid for the regime is needed to encourage the North to not violate UN resolutions and move forward with the nuclear talks.
Meanwhile, U.S. point-man for North Korea, Stephen Biegun was also at the meeting... and with him expected to visit South Korea next week... eyes are on whether he might be able to meet with North Korean officials at the inter-Korean border.
All this comes as tensions between Pyeongyang and Washington have gone up... after North Korea claimed to have conducted "an important test" last weekend
