Amy and Dan first laid eyes on each other as the Cronulla riots raged around them - a notorious day of violence that flared in Sydney's south ten years ago and brought shame to our nation. Frightened by the riots, Amy and Dan retreated to a quiet club some kilometres away from the alcohol fuelled racism. Dan told Amy to run, before being bashed to the ground and stabbed - almost to death. This is a love story like no other, because Amy returned to ride in the ambulance with Dan to hospital and waited as doctors worked to save his life.
