U.S. should not shoulder big burden of defending 'wealthy nations': Trump 트럼프 "세계대통령 아냐"…"부자나라 방어에 엄청난돈" 또 언급

U.S. President Donald Trump was on the campaign trail yet again this week, this time hitting Florida,... a swing state critical to his 2020 re-election bid.
During a speech to tens of thousands of his supporters, Trump touched upon Washington's burden of defense cost sharing with, what he called "wealthy nations," seemingly in a nod to South Korea.
Lee Seung-jae reports.
Dubbed a "homecoming rally",... U.S. President Donald Trump made his first visit to Florida on Tuesday since officially changing his residence last month from Trump Tower in New York to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach.
Among the many topics that came up was the issue of defense cost-sharing.
Explaining he's the president of the United States, not president of the world,... Trump said Washington is shouldering too much of the burden defending countries he considers "wealthy".
While he did not specifically mention South Korea,... his comments come as Seoul and Washington have been locked in tough negotiations over the cost of stationing 28-thousand-500 American troops on the Korean Peninsula with the two sides poles apart on the numbers.
President Trump also criticized previous U.S. administrations for wasting too much of American taxpayer's money on what he called "delusional global projects",... seemingly referring to military costs overseas.
He added the money should be used to help the middle class and America's manufacturing sector.
It remains to be seen how President Trump's remarks will impact the ongoing defense cost sharing negotiations between Seoul and Washington.
