The ink was still wet on the Constitution and George Washington had just begun his second term when we levied our first federal tax (thanks, Alexander Hamilton). Everybody got pissed off - especially the folks in Western Pennsylvania. It was among the first times the American Government came push-to-shove with their own citizens... many of them veterans of the Revolutionary War... about paying taxes.
Shots were fired, people died, the General rode again... but how did it end?
