Life isn't the same after cancer | Khaled Saraya | TEDxSHA

Life isn't the same after cancer | Khaled Saraya | TEDxSHA The human capacity to plan and prepare might be one of our most interesting and defining features. here lies a human utterly unaware of what tomorrow hides yet fully focused on their plans for next week or next month or possibly if you are really good at it, the next few years. But what happens when fate has other plans? when chance chooses you. When life is going according to plan we can all claim to be "The captain of my soul". The real test comes when your circumstances change so drastically that it is no longer about planning and the real tragedy comes when we think we have to face those circumstances alone. years of misguided literature have lead us to believe that it's "me against the world" while in fact it could just as easily be us together facing up to it. in the same way we sometimes mistakenly believe that since we are knocked down, we might as well accept this new state of reality, only to discover that all we needed is to change our perspective.

Luckily another human quality that as interesting and essential to us is hopeful perseverance (u can break apart this bit into hope andperserverance instead of hopeful perseverance)and that is where our next speaker comes in, Khaled Saraya is a 16 year old high schooler, while not the oldest in the room he definitely has a story to tell when it comes to life and living it. He loves to read, ADORES sports, enjoys nature and one of the people who don't only appreciate art but also create it and have witnessed first hand the power it holds. A while ago chance chose him and he rose up to meet it through perseverance, art and support from his loved ones.
