Note: The following video depicts a specific configuration of the notebook. The same removal and replacement procedures apply to all configurations of the notebook.
Before you begin: Remove the battery, optical drive, base enclosure, wireless module, USB board, primary storage drive, subwoofer, front speakers, fan, and system board.
Removal
1. Remove the touchpad ribbon cable from the adhesive that secures it to the touchpad board.
2. Remove the four 2.5 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the touchpad board bracket to the top cover.
3. Lift the touchpad board bracket off of the alignment pins on the top cover and remove.
4. Remove the three 2.5 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the touchpad board to the top cover.
5. Lift the touchpad board off of the alignment pins on the top cover and remove.
6. Place the touchpad board into a static dissipative bag.
Replacement
1. Remove the touchpad board from the static dissipative bag.
2. Place the touchpad board onto the alignment pins on the top cover.
3. Replace the three 2.5 mm P1 Phillips broad-head screws that secure the touchpad board to the top cover.
4. Place the touchpad board bracket onto the alignment pins on the top cover.
5. Replace the four 2.5 mm P1 Phillips-head screws that secure the touchpad board to the top cover.
6. Apply pressure to the touchpad board ribbon cable to adhere it to the touchpad board.
Caution: Improperly installing or replacing parts could damage your HP device or void your warranty. Before replacing any parts, check your warranty.
